The Classes of 1965 and 1966 Alumni Fund
This fund was established in the mid-1990’s and initially funded from left-over monies from prior class reunions.  Since then, all monies donated to this fund are made by individuals on a voluntary basis, usually during the yearly phone-a-thon pledge drive sponsored by the Foundation.

Who selects the recipients?
The CSF Board of Trustees selects the students who will be awarded a scholarship(s).  The selection is based upon financial need and academic achievement, but all students who submit an application will receive at least one scholarship.

When are the scholarships presented?
Coventry High School has an awards ceremony in mid-June at the Veteran’s Auditorium with the entire senior class on stage to receive their scholarships.  The public is invited.

Specific information about the Classes of 1965 and 1966 Alumni Fund
Each year, the Classes of 1963-1968 Reunion Committee selects teachers and staff members for whom the scholarship will be given in their honor,  For example, in prior years we have awarded the scholarship in the name of Frank Perrotti, George Coon, Roland Stoodley, Evelyn Wenner, Lou Mager, and many other teachers and staff members as a way to thank them for helping us while we were students in the Coventry school system.  The reunion committee invites the honoree(s) and their family to attend the awards ceremony, and they are presented with a Certificate of Appreciation.

In 2012, the scholarship was awarded by Lynn Duval on behalf of her sister, Brooke Shannon.  Brooke graduated from Coventry High School in 1966 with a dream to see the world.  Some of her accomplishments include traveling over three million miles as a Tour Director, going around the world several times, with over seventry trips to China.  She lived in California and Hawaii and became a member of a yacht crew using sailing skills she learned as a young girl on Coventry Lake.  Brooke returned to Connecticut in the 1990's and became Executive Director of the Windham Textile and History Museum.  Brooke was a very active member of the Coventry High School Reunion Committee for the classes of 1963-1968, including creating what was to become this web site.  Brooke died on July 28, 2011, of leukemia.

How much does the Classes of 1965 and 1966 award each year?
The annual Classes of 1965 and 1966 scholarship is typically $500.  Prior recipients have attended such secondary schools as Temple University, Eastern Connecticut State University, Bucknell University, and Hofstra University, to name a few.
